Strawberry and Banana Smoothie

Note:
Bananas are worth their weight in gold in Australia at the moment (after Cyclone Yasi wiped out a lot of crops). I found an organic store in Ormond selling them for $5.95 a kilo on Friday and needless to say I bought up big and have frozen them for future us. This morning I treated myself to a strawberry and banana smoothie for breakfast and it was a wonderful way to start the day! This recipe makes 2 glasses.

Ingredients:
2 cups of soy milk (I used Pure Harvest’s Nature Soy – Malt Free)
1 frozen or fresh banana
2-3 strawberries, sliced in half
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of LSA (Linseed, Sunflower seeds, Almonds)
1 teaspoon of honey

A perfect accompaniment to Rice Porridge with Cinnamon Fruit – http://vegematarian.com.au/2011/03/13/rice-porridge-with-cinnamon-fruit/

Instructions:
Add the ingredients and blend in a mixer. Add extra cinnamon or sweetener to meet your taste.

Kudos:
An original for Vegematarian (well, this  recipe  is… people have been making banana and strawberry smoothies since the dawn of time).

  1. Aww, man! You got such a bargain – last time I bought organic bananas I paid $12/kg and that was CHEAP down here in VIC!

I was super lucky, for sure! Check out the health food shop on North Road in Ormond (VIC), that’s where I got the banans from and hopefully they still have them discounted 🙂
